How to Take Advantage of the Inflation Reduction Act

Need new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment for your Illinois home? 2023 is your year, thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

The bill provides generous incentives for high-efficiency HVAC units—including air conditioners (AC), heat pumps, furnaces, and boilers.

MB Heating & Cooling encourages our customers in Springfield and beyond to take full advantage of these discounts. In addition to the immediate savings, high-efficiency equipment helps you save in the long term.

For instance, upgrading your 10-year-old AC unit could cut your utility bill by up to 50 percent, according to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).

The IRA allows you to purchase premium HVAC equipment at lower prices. Act now and save.

New Solar, HVAV Tax Credits Available in 2023

From 2023 to 2032, several tax credits are available to customers purchasing high-efficiency systems, covering 30 percent of installation costs. However, the credit is capped at different price points for different systems. In addition, they must be in the highest Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE) tier to qualify for the credit.

If you purchase a qualifying air conditioner, gas furnace, or boiler, you can receive a credit of up to $600. Additionally, you can receive a credit of up to $2,000 if you purchase a qualifying heat pump.

The 25D Clean Energy Tax Credit is uncapped and covers 30 percent of costs from renewable electrical installations. This includes rooftop solar panels, battery storage and geothermal heat pumps, as well as some community solar ownership models.

Are you interested in transitioning to zero-emissions technology? MB Heating and Cooling makes upgrading to solar panels easy with little to no money down and monthly payments lower than your current electricity budget. Get in touch with us today to learn more.

What Are the Benefits of Upgrading in 2023?

Upgrading to efficient HVAC equipment is a smart long-term investment that just about every Springfield area homeowner can benefit from. Here’s why you should do it in 2023:

  • Long-Term Savings

In the past decade, HVAC has come a long way in terms of energy-saving features. Not only is older equipment designed less efficiently, but it also tends to drain more energy as it reaches the end of its life cycle. Upgrading can reduce your energy usage, lowering your monthly energy expenses significantly.

  • Reduce Your Carbon Footprint

HVAC systems account for a large chunk of your home’s energy use. By switching to an energy-efficient system, you can help reduce carbon emissions and protect our state’s natural resources for future generations.

For instance, upgrading from a 56 percent efficiency gas furnace to a new 90 percent efficiency model can reduce carbon emissions by 1.5 tons annually, according to the DOE.
